Background: London's underground rail system handles over 3 million passengers a day. When CBS Outdoor and its digital media partner, EDL, needed a solution to run 66 synchronized, advertising-based digital media screens at the heavily-used Tottenham Court Road station, Digital View Media (DVM) was their choice.

Challenge: Subways and train stations are a challenging environment for any media technology. Any downtime in a rail system's digital media network can mean big losses in ad revenue so an ultra-reliable hardware and software platform was essential. This was a very early experiment for CBS Outdoor so they also wanted to determine that there were commercial advantages for deploying digital over traditional static posters.

Solution: The DVM's RemotePlayer provided a robust player solution for the challenging environment. And DVM's RemoteTransfer system was just the ticket for a flexible, yet sophisticated content management system to meet the scheduling demands of national advertisers. Synchronisation tools enable displayed images to travel through the panels up and down the escalators alongside the viewer.

This installation was awarded "Best Outdoor Media Installation" by Europe's Campaign magazine. And, most importantly, because the installation has dramatically increased advertising revenues from the station, CBS Outdoor have been able to more than justify the ROI for the digital deployment.
